Shannon E. Bell, associate professor of sociology at Virginia Tech, will lecture based off her book Fighting King Coal. The book explores the inaction or lack of mobilization among those disproportionately receiving environmental destruction in their local communities. Bell’s groundbreaking work provides critical insights into understanding social movements, especially the environmental justice movement. Free and open to the public.
